Dr Ryan Moldrich, Principal Dentist at Smiles in Narrogin

Dr Ryan Moldrich

Principal Dentist

Dr Moldrich graduated from the University of Western Australia with a degree in Dental Science, and splits his week between Narrogin and his city practice, Enso Dental in North Perth.

He has practiced from Smiles in Narrogin for nearly a decade and took ownership of the practice in 2017. A caring, gentle dentist with a special interest in dental implants, full-mouth rehabilitation and Invisalign for both simple and complex cases.

Outside work, you might find him on the squash court at the local rec centre.

Dr Preeti, General Dentist at Smiles in Narrogin

Dr Preeti

General Dentist

Preeti is a passionate, friendly dentist who graduated in India in 2009. She worked in private practice in India and Singapore before migrating to Australia in 2014, and has been living in country WA since 2017.

She has a special interest in anxious and dental-phobic patients — believing treatment planning starts in the waiting room, by helping the patient feel calm and comfortable.

Dr Preeti also practises dento-facial injectables, including muscle relaxant treatment for TMD-related clenching and grinding. Ask about a complimentary consultation.

Our approach

Comprehensive care, not reactionary care

There are two ways to approach dental care. One is problem-oriented: there's a problem, you fix it as quickly as possible. Honest truth — that approach doesn't address why the problem started in the first place.

At Smiles in Narrogin, we believe in comprehensive care. Identifying the needs of the whole mouth — including diet and oral hygiene — is the only way to stop recurrent problems before they start.

Dental problems are preventable. Just like obesity is prevented through diet and exercise, dental health is improved through a good diet, solid at-home habits and a regular preventive maintenance plan with your dentist.

Your health is important to us

Three things that actually move the needle

01 / Brushing

Don't rush when you brush

The biggest issue is that most patients don't brush for long enough. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush — plaque is soft and should come off easily. Once it's calcified, you'll need a professional clean to remove it.

02 / Prevention

Visit your dentist regularly

It only takes three days for a cavity to start forming. Caught early, decay can be stopped or even reversed. Gum disease is silent and causes irreversible bone loss — regular visits prevent both.

03 / Flossing

Don't forget to floss

Flossing is one of the best ways to prevent irreversible bone loss around teeth. It's also been shown to reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease. Start flossing — your whole body benefits.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What causes decay?

Decay is primarily caused by a diet that's too high in sugar. In the presence of plaque (bacteria), sugars are broken down into acids which slowly dissolve the teeth. Good saliva plays a part, but diet is the biggest factor.

What are the costs for dental services?

We never provide treatment without estimating the cost first. If you're ever unsure, ask what the treatment will cost before you have anything done. We always provide approximate treatment plans before starting any invasive work.

Do I have more than one treatment option?

Often yes — in dentistry there's usually more than one way to treat a condition. Feel free to ask about alternatives. Just bear in mind we have an ethical code: we'll only recommend what we'd recommend to our own family and friends.

I'm really nervous — can you help me?

Dental anxiety is more common than you'd think. We have methods to help you have a stress-free visit. Ask the dentist about sedation options — we always discuss it for more complex procedures like wisdom teeth removal.

What causes gum disease?

Gum disease is caused by chronic accumulation of bacteria as plaque. It's the most common disease affecting humans. Continuous plaque erodes bone around the teeth, and untreated, teeth can become loose and eventually fall out.

Is it going to hurt?

Dental treatment is done under anaesthetic whenever discomfort is anticipated. The initial injection can be a little sensitive, but we always use numbing paste first. Most of the time it's no worse than a small pinch.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes — spreading the cost of treatment over a number of visits or a period of time is reasonable. Just bear in mind, cavities continue to grow unless they're addressed. Waiting too long can turn a simple filling into a much bigger problem.

How can I trust you're not over-prescribing treatment?

It's a fair concern, especially when you're not in pain. We're happy to facilitate second opinions with colleagues or specialists if you're ever unsure — we never take it personally if you query our recommendations.
